Protein bars members logged
Share of protein bar loggersBarebells (16%), Huel (13%) and Myprotein (10%) completed the top five. The typical bars members logged had about 15 to 21 g of protein for 172 to 233 kcal.
Members can log more than one brand, so the shares add up to more than 100%. This is popularity in members’ diaries, not a ranking of which protein bar is better.
What this means
Popularity isn’t quality. If a bar is your protein snack, the per-bar protein and calories on the wrapper matter more than the brand.
What the research says
Higher-protein diets during weight loss were linked with more fat loss and better preservation of lean mass in shorter trials, with about 25–30 g of protein a meal often suggested.

Protein supplements added to resistance training gave modest extra gains in muscle and strength, levelling off at about 1.6 g of protein per kg a day.
