Ice cream almost doubles in UK food diaries from February to July

Key findings

The share of UK ParrotPal members logging ice cream or a lolly rose from 16.6% in February to 32.1% in July 2026. Soup moved the other way, from 23.9% to 9.3%.

The food diary has seasons. Ice cream climbed every month from February (16.6%) to July (32.1%), while soup fell by more than half.

Spring had its own spike: Mini Eggs peaked at 6.1% of members in March and hot cross buns at 10.0%. Iced coffee tripled from 4.1% in February to 12.2% in July.

Strawberries peaked in summer too (26.7% in July against 15.4% in February), as did watermelon (9.4% in July).

Each month’s share is of members who logged anything that month. Fewer members logged in summer, so read the shape rather than small steps.

What this means

Food diaries follow the calendar: Easter chocolate in spring, ice cream, strawberries and iced coffee in summer.

A share is the share of members in the group who logged the item at least once, so it counts people, not entries. Monthly shares are of members who logged any food that month.
