At McDonald’s, members most often logged a burger (57.1% of McDonald’s loggers), then fries (32.4%).

At Greggs it was the sausage roll (34.4% of Greggs loggers). Chains are matched on the database brand or the name in a voice or text log, such as “Greggs sausage roll”.

This counts members who logged a chain at least once. It isn’t market share, and food diaries tend to miss some takeaway meals.

Method in brief. UK ParrotPal members’ anonymised food diaries, 1 February to 31 August 2026 (members whose app is set to UK time; internal accounts and deleted entries left out). A share is the share of members in the group who logged the item at least once, so it counts people, not entries. A chain is matched on the brand of a database item or on the chain’s name in what members wrote or said.

Aggregates only: every group shown has 50 or more members and no share rests on fewer than 10. Patterns in what members logged, not causes. who’s counted · the 50/10 rule · logged isn’t eaten · how foods are named and counted.
